Why do you want to be a tutor?
- I have always been enthusiastic about teaching and learning- both in mathematics specifically and in general, and in sharing my knowledge and experience with others. These factors led me to enter the field of education in 2004.
Why should a student pick you?
- I am innately talented in math, and have over 5 years of teaching experience. This includes 2 1/3 years in my own math classroom, plus 3 years as a visiting teacher throughout San Diego County. I am patient, possess a good sense of humor, and have a track record of greatly improved mathematical understanding and achievement- especially in the upper math levels- among students seriously striving to grow in these areas.
Personal Statement:
- I am both an innately talented mathematician and a highly qualified math teacher. I received my Bachelor's in applied math at UCSD, followed by 2 additional years of graduate coursework in math. I subsequently worked for a small investment firm, and also for an excavating company, where I saw math applied to both financial markets and civil engineering. It was after these experiences that I decided to pursue my teaching credential. Currently, I am an experienced high school teacher, with over 2 years in my own math classroom, plus 3 years as a substitute teacher. I am also about to receive authorization to teach physics, chemistry, and biology at the high school level.
